St Patrick's Day Punch Drinks - 2 Great St Patty's Day Party Punches

A St. Patrick's Day party just isn't complete without a great party punch to serve your guests. You have made sure all your St. Patrick's Day decorations and party supplies are ready. You are all set with a great selection of snacks and hors d' oeuvres, and of course the green beer. But now you need just-the-right St. Patrick's Day punch to add that final Irish touch. These two party punch recipes will get rave reviews from your guests, you just have to decide which one to use. (Or maybe both)

The preparation of these punches can be as simple as mixing them 20 minutes before your guests arrive, to the rainbow punch which requires some ahead-of-time prep. So be sure to consider this when choosing the right punch for your party.

Note: Although none of these recipes call for an ice block, it would be a nice "extra touch" to have 1 or 2 theme shaped ice blocks floating in the punch bowl. You can easily find aluminum foil shamrock-shaped cupcake molds at your local grocery or party supply store. Fill them with water, then add a few drops of green food coloring, pop them in your freezer, and voila' you will have green shamrock ice blocks.

*These non-alcoholic punch recipes may be converted with 1 bottle of one additional ingrdient.

Traditional St. Paddy's Day Party Punch

Prep time: easy - just 15 minutes, anytime before your guests arrive

Serves approximately 24 guests (50 - 4oz. cups)

Ingredients:

2 ea. - 2-litre bottles of any lemon-lime flavor soda

2 ea. - 12oz. cans frozen lemonade concentrate*

2 ea. - 12 oz. cans frozen limeade concentrate*

2 ea. - Qts. Lime Sherbet*

*put these items in the refrigerator instead of the freezer so they will be thawed/softened when you are ready to use them

Pour all ingredients into a large pot and mix until thoroughly blended. Fill punch bowl approximately 1/3 full with crushed ice, then add blended punch and serve.

Pot-o-Gold Rainbow Party Punch

Prep time: 4 hours before party for rainbows, 15 minutes just before guests arrive to mix all ingredients.

Serves approximately 24 guests (50 - 4oz. cups)

Ingredients:

3 ea. - 2-litre bottles of 7-Up

2 ea. - 12oz. cans frozen lemonade concentrate*

2 ea. - Qts. Rainbow sherbet*

*put both cans concentrate and I qt. sherbet in the refrigerator instead of the freezer so they will be thawed/softened when you are ready to use them

Floating Rainbow prep: Using a large, sharp, serrated knife, and one round quart container of rainbow sherbet, slice 4 slabs, about 1 ½" thick. Don't bother taking sherbet out of carton, slice through carton and all.

Lay each slab flat and cut in half so you end up with 2 half-moon pieces, Use a round cookie cutter or beverage glass to press out the center of each half-moon piece so you are left with rainbow shapes.

Remove the carton pieces now, wrap the rainbow-shaped pieces in clear wrap and put in the freezer so they can freeze solidly until you need them. Put any leftover sherbet in refrigerator to thaw/soften for later use.

Party prep: Put all ingredients, (except frozen rainbow pieces), and approximately 1 tray of ice cubes, in a large pot and mix until well blended. Ice cubes should melt during mixing, or shortly there after. Pour blended mix into your punch bowl, and just before guests arrive add 1 or 2 of the frozen rainbow sherbet rainbows. (they will float on top like ice blocks)

Either one of these out-of-the-ordinary St. Patrick's Day party punches will be a smash hit with your guests, you just have to decide which one to use.

Children tend to get bored honestly so clues and riddles for your party need to be easy. Look nearby your house and search for your most common possessions or household items. Think how you can make funny quips or jokes about these commonplace stuff that are in your home. Here's an example of a one liner: "What did one potato chip say to an additional one potato chip? Answer: Let's go for a dip. Or, can giraffes have babies? Answer: no, they only have giraffes". These funny witticisms may seem corny to older kids but for young children this will honestly send laughs all around. A request and retort clue is also easier to make than the usual riddle. This style is also easy for new clue makers or for novices who are about to host their first ever scavenger hunt. If you are still having a hard time manufacture a request and retort type of riddle, try doing it backward. Think of an item and make a funny joke about it or just say something about it. Example: "I am plane and sweet and fun to put in your cocoa drink" Answer: Marshmallows. It is foremost to note that your clues and riddles need to be accepted for your kid's age group. As kids get older more difficult and crafty clues might be needed to stimulate the players and make the game more exciting.

Another good idea might be to host a photo scavenger hunt for kids. But unlike most photo scavenger hunt, make the game more intelligent by taking a close-up photo of the items to make the hunt more tricky and entertaining. You can add clues or a normal location of the distinct thing in the photo and watch them hunt nearby matching the pattern of your photos. For pre school children who can't read yet, drawings or photos of toys and other knickknacks would be favorable for them

Most scavenger hunts end with having to award a prize to the winner who found the most items. So it might also be a good idea to make some of the clues harder to solve to make sure that the kids won't end up with the same whole of items.

Patron Saint Medals: Which One Is Right For You

Sometimes it can be difficult to navigate through the temptations of day-to-day life. This is why we wear patron saint medals; to invoke the wisdom of the saints to help guide us past the pitfalls we might otherwise fall into. Each of us has our own set of problems and pitfalls to deal with in life, and so each of us needs our own patron saint. So, how do you find the right patron saint medal for you? It's easy! There are literally hundreds of saints, and with so many to choose from you can be sure that you'll find a saint medal that perfectly represents you.

Examples of patron saints:

There are many patron saints depicted on saint medals. To choose the right one for you, you must simply find the one that best represents you and your life. Here are a few examples of patron saints:

St. Francis of Assisi: born c. 1181 in Assisi, Italy. In 1206 St. Francis made a pilgrimage to Rome, and upon his return devoted his life to poverty and the care of the sick. In 1209 he founded the Franciscan order, and in 1224 he received the stigmata. He died in 1226, and was canonized in 1228. St. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals, ecology, and peace.

St. Patrick: born c. 389 somewhere in Roman Britain. At the age of sixteen St. Patrick was captured by Irish raiders, and held captive for six years. He was consecrated a bishop by St. Germanus c. 432, and returned to Ireland to succeed St. Paulinus. St. Patrick is well known for converting the Irish to Christianity. He died c. 461. St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and excluded people.

St. Helena: born c. 250 at Drepanum, Bithynia. She married the Roman General Constantius Chlorus c. 270, and gave birth to Constantine, who would later become Emperor of Rome, c. 280. In 313 Constantine issued the Edict of Milan, permitting Christianity in the Roman Empire. Around the same time St. Helena converted to Christianity. She traveled to Palestine c. 324, and while there is reputed to have discovered the True Cross. She died c. 330 and was buried at Constantinople. St. Helena is the patron saint of archeologists and converts.

St. Christopher: according to legend St. Christopher was an ugly giant who made his living carrying people across a river. It was his quest to find someone more powerful than himself, and, after many years of searching, he decided that this could only be Christ, since the devil feared the Savior. One day, while carrying a child across the river, the child grew so heavy that St. Christopher feared that they would be drowned. The child then revealed that he was Christ, and that the heaviness was the weight of the world He was carrying on His shoulders. St. Christopher is reputed to have died in Lycia c. 251. St. Christopher is the patron saint of travelers.

St. Dominic: born 1170 at Calaruega, Spain. St. Dominic was appointed canon at Osma in 1199. In 1206 he founded an institute for women in the Albigensian territory of Prouille. In 1214 he founded an order to convert the Albigensian heretics. In 1215 he founded the Order of Preachers, also known as the Dominicans. Saint Dominic died in 1221 and was canonized in 1234. Legend says that Dominic received a vision of a beggar who, like Dominic, would do great things for the Faith. Dominic met the beggar the next day. He embraced him and said, "You are my companion and must walk with me. If we hold together, no earthly power can withstand us." The beggar was Saint Francis of Assisi. Saint Dominic is the patron saint of astronomers, scientists, and the falsely accused.

St. Michael: St. Michael is one of three angels, with Gabriel and Raphael, liturgically venerated by the Church. He is the leader of the Heavenly Host, and the Archangel who cast Lucifer from Heaven. St. Michael is the patron saint of artists, bakers, bankers, knights, mariners, ambulance drivers, paramedics, and battle.

St. Jude: St. Jude was the brother of St. James, the nephew of Mary and Joseph, and first cousin of Jesus Christ. It was St. Jude who anointed Christ's body after the Crucifixion. After Christ's death, Jude preached in Syria, Mesopotamia, and Persia where he was martyred, along with St. Simeon. St. Jude is the patron saint of hospitals and lost causes.

These are just a few examples of the many patron saints. There are so many saints, representing so many different aspects of life, that you'll have no problem finding the right saint medal to represent you. Here is a good page to view the different types of patron saint medals.

Where is the best place to purchase patron saint medals:

To get an idea of the different styles and prices that are available in patron saint medals it is more convenient to view them online before shopping around at local jewelry stores.

Retail jewelers will sometimes carry a small selection of saint medals, but you are more apt to find a greater selection online. Just type "patron saint medals " into an Internet search engine like Google or Yahoo and you will find several reliable websites that specialize in patron saint medals.

The cost of patron saint medals is dependent upon many variables. In solid 14K yellow or white gold, patron saint medals should cost between and 0, depending on the size.

The guidance of the saints:

We all could use a little help sometimes; a guiding hand to steer us through life's pitfalls. Our patron saints are the ones we turn to in our times of need. Our patron saints are the ones who offer us the guidance we seek. This is the reason we wear saint medals; to honor and revere our patron saints.
